FALL OUT BOY
I got a lot of shit for going to this concert. Yet, I had probably the most fun I’ve ever had at a concert. And I mean, FUN. I was jumping up and down and screaming lyrics at the top of my lungs as if I was in 8th grade jamming to Fall Out Boy alone in my room. Which is exactly what this concert was to me. A show I just needed to check of my list, for my 8th grade self. I don’t regret it one bit. It was so much fun!
Patrick Stump is TALENTED. He can sing just as he sounds on the album. Pete Wentz talked to the crowd a bit an I really wish I would have heard more from the other band members. They played songs both old and new, and my favorites. The audience was just having a good time. And a good time it really was!
I usually steer towards calmer, indie music like The Lumineers, The Head & The Heart, Mumford & Sons, etc. But this show had me on my feet and not like Muse in March, it was different. It was RELATABLE. They are a relatable band. I found comfort in their lyrics years ago and today they ring the same.
Their opening band was too showy and immature for me. It was fun seeing the lead singer crowd surf by walking on fans’ hands. He also did a lot of back flips and handstands… Not that much singing. It’s not like we were at a concert though. And I’ll stop there.
But Fall Out Boy, I loved you then and I love you now. I would watch you again any day.
*REALLY LATE CONCERT UPDATE*
I saw Of Monsters & Men recently at the House of Blues Dallas and they were incredible I truly recommend them. I was so excited for this show because it was my first of 5 concerts in June 2013 and it was the best one I could have started out with. They definitely had a lot of planning on how they wanted their show to go and you could just tell they put thought into detail and how they wanted to present themselves.
A band named Half Moon Run (blue picture) opened for OMAM and they were great. Awesome drumming and not the mention they were gorgeous. Check out their songs Drug You, Full Circle and Call Me In The Afternoon!
OMAM started with a curtain which I hadn’t seen done at the HOB Dallas and I’ve been there plenty. They let it down as you could see their shadows while play Dirty Paws. Beautiful. They introduced themselves very sweetly and played one of the best shows I’ve seen. They let out little confetti during Lakehouse and the whole place was sparkling. They also made it snow. Artificially of course. But it was beautiful. They have made their way into my heart with their music but they made their way into my top 10 concerts by their epic performance. I got to meet them after and man, I was girl crushing so hard on Nanna. She’s adorable. The band was very friendly and even though they knew little English we expressed how much we loved them!
Really? I’m going to be at school in Abilene but let me know and maybe I’ll be in Dallas! I’d love to meet up! :)
